Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef stated that as a country bound by friendly, cordial, and brotherly ties, it is vital for the Maldives to prioritise activities such as scouting. He added that the Government would work on facilitating a favourable environment for scouting activities in schools. He made the remarks while meeting with Maldivian scouts participating in Sri Lanka’s 10th National Scout Jamboree.
At the meeting held at Ghiyasuddin International School this morning, the Vice President wished good luck to the scouts partaking in the Jamboree, emphasising the importance of upholding Maldivian values while representing the nation abroad. The Vice President also stressed the importance of maintaining good behaviour, ethics, friendship, and togetherness for the scouts while being mindful of their prayers, time management, and respect for superiors.
At the meeting, the Vice President acknowledged the important work of scout leaders in arranging activities such as Scout Jamborees. He expressed gratitude to the leaders for their dedication towards societal progress.
A total of 242 Maldivian scouts are participating in the 10th National Scout Jamboree. This is the largest international scout contingent to attend the scout jamboree.
