President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the council and WDC members of Gaadhiffushi Island on Thursday. The meeting was held at the island's FENAKA office.
At the meeting, council members shared the developmental needs of the residents and the community with the President. Some issues addressed at the meeting include the space constraints at the Gaadhiffushi Island School and Council Secretariat. Council members highlighted the challenges faced at the harbour and requested a solution. They also conveyed the need for resolving issues related to fisheries, land scarcity, and the deepening of the harbour channel. They additionally conveyed the need for ATM services, a proper waste management system, and the development of the health centre.
At the meeting, WDC members also requested the President restart halted development projects on the island.
Speaking at the meeting, President Dr Muizzu stated that the Administration would begin efforts to restart halted projects. He added that the Administration would expedite ongoing projects and work with relevant Government entities to resolve the issues conveyed by the council.
A high-level Government delegation accompanied President Dr Muizzu on his tour of the Kolhumadulu Atoll.
