President Mohamed Nasheed proposed a Broadcast Bill to the People’s Majlis.
The Bill states that a Broadcast Commission of the Maldives to be established and specifies the responsibilities and obligations of the commission as well as the general regulations on broadcasting.
Acknowledging that there was no law pertaining to broadcasting in the Maldives, the government sent this bill to the People’s Majlis to facilitate the development and regulation of broadcast sector in the Maldives.
