President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) of Buruni Island in the Kolhumadulu Atoll. The meeting was held at the Buruni School.

At the meeting, council members communicated the island community's most pressing concerns and needs to the President. Council members noted the challenges faced by the community due to the halt in the harbour upgrade and water network projects on the island. They also emphasised the additional needs of the island school and difficulties caused by space constraints at the Council Secretariat.

Speaking at the meeting, council members discussed their developmental aspirations, including the development of housing units, a children's park, ATM services, and a sports fishing buoy for recreational fishing.

At the meeting, Buruni WDC requested that WDC members receive a Ramadan allowance and maternity leave.

Speaking at the meeting, the President assured that he would work towards restarting halted projects and highlighted the government's efforts towards increasing revenue for state-owned enterprises (SOEs).

In addition, the President also spoke of the Administration's efforts to include uninhabited islands under the jurisdiction of the nearest inhabited islands and promoted small and medium-level projects to be conducted through the councils. President Dr Muizzu also briefed the council on the Administration's plans to unveil housing loans.
