Upon the Cabinet’s recommendation, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu decided to implement a program to certify one crew member in each fishing vessel as a rescue diver. This decision followed discussions on a paper submitted by the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources during yesterday’s Cabinet meeting.
The President decided to conduct the program at the expense of the state over the next five years via training centers recognised by the government.
The Government's roadmap, ‘Hafutha 14', includes providing a special training program to ensure that at least one crew member of every fishing boat is certified as a rescue diver.
