President Dr Mohamed Muizzu unveiled plans to develop new residential buildings to rehouse the residents of Sinamalé and Malé Hiya flats in Malé and Vilimalé. He made this announcement while speaking at a ceremony held at Dharubaaruge last night by the Local Government Authority (LGA) to give away the 'Kangathi Awards 2023'.
The President noted that the project aims to rehouse the residents without them bearing any costs for the rehousing. He expressed concern over the deterioration of the Sinamalé and Malé Hiya apartments and assured the residents that he would find a sustainable solution.
He detailed that numerous housing projects would be simultaneously planned and implemented throughout the nation during this presidential term to resolve housing issues permanently, adding that he would end the cycle of false promises made by politicians during campaigns.
President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed the Administration's housing plans for the Malé region and emphasised that the additional land from Ras Malé and Gulhi Falhu, along with Giraavaru Falhu and Hulhumalé, would provide a lasting solution to the Maldives' long-standing housing crisis.
