President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih attended ceremonies to inaugurate newly completed infrastructure on Isdhoo, Kalaidhoo, and Dhanbindhoo Islands in Laamu Atoll on Monday. The projects included water supply networks on all three islands and an upgraded harbour on Isdhoo Island. These inaugurations were part of the President's ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and services for residents of the atoll.
The harbour upgrading project on Isdhoo Island was completed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). As part of the harbour upgrade project, the harbour basin and channel were dredged, a 160-metre seawall was established, a 48-metre quay wall was developed, a 98-metre revetment was constructed, and other port-related works were carried out. These improvements are expected to enhance the functionality and safety of the harbour for residents and visitors.
S.M.C. Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. constructed the water supply networks on Isdhoo and Kalaidhoo Islands, while S.A.S. E. Construction Pvt. Ltd. constructed the water supply networks on Dhanbindhoo as part of the administration's initiative to develop such networks on all inhabited islands. This initiative aims to significantly improve the quality of life for local communities by providing access to clean and reliable water sources.
Under President Solih's leadership, the administration has achieved significant strides towards equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. This includes enhancing the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives. During his visits to various islands, President Solih is officially inaugurating the completion of numerous projects and services.
