President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited Fainu and Meedhoo Islands in Raa Atoll on Wednesday to inaugurate newly completed infrastructure. These projects include a new powerhouse and FENAKA office on Fainu Island and a new football ground on Meedhoo Island. These improvements represent significant investments in the development and well-being of the local communities and will enhance the quality of life for residents of these islands.
The newly opened powerhouse on Fainu Island, with its power generation capacity of 520 kilowatts, will provide a reliable energy source for the local community and help solve numerous issues the community faces. This will improve residents' quality of life and support the islands' continued development. President Solih also opened the FENAKA office, a spacious and modern facility accommodating up to 15 employees.
On Meedhoo Island, President Solih inaugurated the new football ground. The ground has been developed to modern standards and features a turf field. The sub-base work for the football ground was completed by the Road Development Corporation (RDC), while Myna Sports Field Pvt. Ltd. did the turf layering. These improvements will provide a high-quality playing surface for local athletes and support the development of football on the island.
Under President Solih's leadership, the administration has achieved significant strides towards equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. This includes enhancing the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives. During his visits to various islands, President Solih is officially inaugurating the completion of numerous projects and services.
