President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih attended ceremonies on Dharavandhoo and Kudarikilu Islands in Baa Atoll on Wednesday to inaugurate newly completed infrastructure projects. These projects, developed under his administration to improve the quality of life for residents on these islands, include coastal protection on both islands, an upgraded harbour, and a new volleyball court on Kudarikilu Island.
The new infrastructure on Dharavandhoo and Kudarikilu Islands was officially inaugurated as part of President Solih's ongoing tour. The coastal protection project on Dharavandhoo Island was completed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). As part of the project, a 144-metre revetment was installed, and beach nourishment works were carried out to counteract erosion.
MT Højgaard Pvt. Ltd. completed the coastal protection project and harbour upgrade on Kudarikilu Island. The project involved dredging the harbour and its channel's basin, constructing a ramp, installing port lights, and constructing 1,630 square metres of pavement. An 819-metre revetment was also developed as part of the coastal protection project. These improvements will enhance the safety and functionality of the harbour for the benefit of the local community.
Under President Solih's leadership, the administration has achieved significant strides towards equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. This includes enhancing the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives. During his visits to various islands, President Solih is officially inaugurating the completion of numerous projects and services.
