President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih attended ceremonies to inaugurate the completion of several infrastructure projects on Fulhadhoo and Fehendhoo Islands in Baa Atoll on Monday. These projects include the construction of new harbours on both islands and the establishment of a new powerhouse and FENAKA office on Fulhadhoo Island. The ceremonies were held on the respective islands earlier in the day as part of the President's ongoing visit to Baa Atoll. These infrastructure developments would improve the quality of life for residents and support economic growth in the region.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) completed the development of the new harbour on Fulhadhoo Island. The upgrade included several improvements to the harbour's infrastructure, including dredging the harbour and channel basin to increase their depth, installing port lights, and constructing 558 square metres of pavement to improve accessibility and functionality. The offshore harbour features a 68.3-metre-long, 10-metre-wide bridge to connect it to the island. These enhancements are expected to improve the harbour's efficiency and safety, supporting the local community's transportation needs.
President Solih also inaugurated the new FENAKA office and powerhouse on Fulhadhoo Island. These state-of-the-art facilities include a powerhouse with a power generation capacity of 538 kilowatts, providing reliable and efficient energy to the local community. The new FENAKA office, which can accommodate up to 15 employees, was constructed away from the residential area to minimise disruption to residents.
MTCC completed the construction of the new harbour on Fehendhoo Island. The project included several enhancements to the harbour's infrastructure, such as dredging the harbour and channel basin to increase their depth, installing port lights, and constructing 558 square metres of pavement to improve accessibility and functionality. The offshore harbour features a 57.7-metre-long, 10-metre-wide bridge to connect it to the island. These improvements are expected to provide significant benefits to the local community by improving the efficiency and safety of the harbour.
Under President Solih's leadership, the administration has achieved significant strides towards equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. This includes enhancing the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives.
