President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the completion of a water supply project, the FENAKA Office, and a powerhouse on Meedhoo Island in Dhaalu Atoll on Monday. The completion of these projects was inaugurated as part of President Solih's ongoing visit to the atoll.
The newly developed FENAKA powerhouse and office are strategically located away from residential areas and have modern facilities. This initiative replaces the island's old powerhouse, built in the centre of a residential neighbourhood 22 years ago, and is part of the administration's commitment to addressing the challenges island residents face.
The water supply network, funded under a US$800 million line-of-credit agreement with the Maldivian government and the Indian EXIM Bank, was constructed by SMC Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd.
Under the leadership of President Solih, the administration has made significant strides towards achieving equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. This includes enhancing the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives. During his visits to various islands, President Solih is officially inaugurating the completion of numerous projects and services.
