Vice President Faisal Naseem emphasised on Tuesday that the responsibility of ensuring peace and stability does not solely lie with uniformed bodies but instead requires the collective effort of all citizens towards the common goals of progress, peace, and prosperity. He delivered these remarks during his address at the graduation ceremony of the 35th Police Initial Training Course, held at the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement in Addu City.
During his address, the Vice President spoke at length about the roles and responsibilities of police officers, emphasising their importance. He stated that peace, stability, and a cohesive environment that protects every citizen are the foremost needs of all citizens. He then urged all police officers to work closely with the public to meet these needs.
Vice President Naseem underscored the administration’s priority to enhance and strengthen policing services, improve the capacity of the police force, and ensure public trust. He added that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had accorded high priority to providing training and equipment to modernise the police institution and expressed his gratitude to the President for this endeavour.
The Vice President also delivered a message to the nation’s youth, encouraging them to serve their country proudly. He also urged them to adhere to Islamic principles in all their actions.
At the ceremony, Vice President Naseem presented plaques and certificates to the graduates who excelled in the training programme. The Police Initial Training Course is a mandatory basic training programme for all recruits before they become police officers.
The six-month training programme consists of four months of on-campus training and two months of probationary training. Of the 220 recruits in the 35th batch, 192 successfully completed the programme, including 37 female and 155 male officers.
