First Lady Fazna Ahmed highlighted the importance of maternal health on Monday and emphasised the need to prioritise lifestyle-related changes to address maternal health issues. Her remarks were made during a ceremony to award funds to recipients of the 'In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) Fund,' organised by the Fertility Support Community.

The First Lady commended the admirable work of the management and staff of the Fertility Support Community. She praised their efforts to raise awareness and provide aid in service delivery, stating that such activities are beneficial to policy formation, implementation, and further development. The First Lady also encouraged the Fertility Support Community to continue their essential work in this area.

In her speech, the First Lady discussed changes in the country's birth health outcomes, reproductive health, and childbirth rates. She cited the latest census data, which showed that the childbirth rate had declined significantly until last year. In light of this, she stated that the administration has begun improving services connected to fertility assistance across the nation.

The First Lady also addressed the common causes of maternal health difficulties. She emphasised the importance of addressing broader reproductive health concerns by prioritising early preventative policy actions for children and youth. The First Lady also underlined the need to increase spending on a healthy diet and exercise to attain physical and mental well-being.

The First Lady presented IVF funds to five couples at today's ceremony. The Fertility Support Community launched the IVF Fund in November of last year. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to couples seeking fertility treatment.
