President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited Ihavandhoo Island in Haa Alifu Atoll and inaugurated the completion of several developmental projects on Wednesday. These included the harbour, FENAKA Office, school multi-purpose hall, and community centre. The inaugurations were part of the President’s tour of Haa Alifu Atoll.
Several ceremonies were held on Ihavandhoo Island today to celebrate the completion of the development projects. Among them was the harbour, developed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The project involved expanding the harbour, constructing a 251-meter sea wall, and installing 178 meters of revetment. Additionally, a bridge was built to connect the sea wall, a 121-square-meter ramp was developed, port lights were installed, and pavement was constructed.
Following the inauguration of the harbour, President Solih proceeded to open several other facilities on Ihavandhoo Island. These included the FENAKA Office building, the newly constructed multipurpose hall at Ihavandhoo School, and the community centre.
The development of the multipurpose hall at Ihavandhoo School was completed by MTCC, while the community centre was developed by Two A. Company Pvt. Ltd. The community centre is a spacious, state-of-the-art facility that can be used for sports and civil society development initiatives.
Under the leadership of President Solih, the administration has made significant progress towards achieving equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. This includes improving the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives.
