President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih officially inaugurated the football ground on Thuraakunu Island in Haa Alifu Atoll on Wednesday. The inauguration took place during the President’s visit to the island as part of his tour of Haa Alifu Atoll.
The newly inaugurated football ground on Thuraakunu Island is equipped with modern amenities, including turf installation. The project was contracted to Myna Sports Field Pvt. Ltd.
The administration has implemented various initiatives across the atolls to provide modern football grounds, futsal fields, and sports courts. These efforts aim to promote healthy and active lifestyles among young people while also fostering the development of local athletic talent.
Before inaugurating the football ground, President Solih also inaugurated the ‘Uthuru Vehi’ children’s park on the island. This park, built by the administration, is part of their ongoing efforts to provide opportunities for people of all ages to live healthy, active, and dignified lives.
