President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated on Saturday the completion of several developmental projects on Kolhufushi Island in the Meemu Atoll. These projects included coastal protection, a water supply network, and the development of a new multipurpose hall and eight classrooms at Meemu Atoll School.
The coastal protection project on Kolhufushi Island was executed by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and financed through the Green Fund. The project included the construction of revetments, breakwaters, beach improvements, and the establishment of a swimming beach.
As part of the project, revetments were built on the northeast and western sides of the island, measuring 136.6 and 382.2 metres, respectively. The water network project on the island was contracted to S.M.C. Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., while Swift Engineering Pvt. Ltd. constructed a multipurpose hall and eight classrooms.
