President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed visited Thoddoo Island in the North Ari Atoll on Wednesday to join the residents in celebrating Eid al-Adha. During the visit, the President and the First Lady attended a traditional lunch hosted by the women’s community of the island on the occasion of Eid.
Following lunch, President Solih met with a group of women from the island community. The women discussed the challenges faced by female volleyball players on the island due to the absence of a suitable court. They requested that the project to construct a volleyball court on the island be expedited. The President responded that the administration would look into the matter.
Prior to concluding their visit to the island, the President and the First Lady visited the Thoddoo Local Authority Company and met with the management and staff to learn about the company's operations. The AA. Thoddoo L.A.C. Ltd. is the first utility company registered by a local council to generate economic opportunities and take on risks in order to develop sustainable solutions that meet the needs of the community.
