H.E. Vice President Faisal Naseem paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mohammad Shahabuddin, the President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, on Thursday. The meeting was held at the Bangladeshi Presidential Palace, Bangabhaban, as part of his ongoing visit to attend the sixth Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) taking place from May 12-13, 2023.
At the meeting, the Vice President conveyed felicitations on behalf of H.E. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to H.E. Shahabuddin on his appointment as the new President of Bangladesh. They shed light on the four and a half decades of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and engaged in discussions pertinent to other topics of mutual interest.
The Maldives and Bangladesh established diplomatic relations on September 22, 1978.
