Vice President Faisal Naseem stated on Monday that the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih prioritised the needs and aspirations of the youth since its first day. He made these remarks while speaking at the function held at the Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa to inaugurate the Marriot International Maldives Apprenticeship Program. The programme is carried out in partnership with the administration's National Apprenticeship Program (NAP).

Speaking at the function, the Vice President reiterated the administration's commitment to the development of youth and to providing higher education and training opportunities to build a resilient and robust workforce prepared for the ever-changing world. He emphasised that the administration had diligently invested in youth development, leading to a more prosperous and sustainable future.

The Vice President stated that the government had identified the nation's requirements for youth to focus their talents and that the administration had launched several programmes targeting these requirements. He stressed that the Marriot International Maldives Apprenticeship Program is one such programme aligned with the administration's goal.

The Vice President added that the progress of every country depends on its people, youth, and talents. He said that developed countries like Singapore had heavily invested in human resource development. He highlighted that President Solih's administration heavily invests in higher education and training to build a competent workforce.

Speaking on the NAP, the Vice President stated that the administration had partnered with the public and private sectors to provide comprehensive training opportunities centred around on- and off-the-job training to local youth. He said the programme is crucial to equipping youth with the skills and knowledge required to fulfil national requirements.

Recalling his time working in the hotel industry as a youth, the Vice President called on the programme participants to make the best use of this opportunity to fulfil their dreams. The Vice President also attributed the success of the Maldives' tourism industry to the hospitable services provided by the workforce.

The ceremony saw the inauguration of the Marriot International Maldives Apprenticeship Program, marked by the distribution of admission certificates to 40 participants. Marriott International is the first international hospitality brand to partner with the NAP. It is also the largest hotel chain in the world and features seven properties across the Maldives.
