Vice President Faisal Naseem on Friday inaugurated the "Ran Thaaju" Quran Recitation Competition. The competition is produced as a reality show by Raajje TV in association with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment for the holy month of Ramadan. The pilot episode of the competition aired this evening.
Speaking at the opening, the Vice President commended the structure and format of the competition and extended his gratitude to the organisers, facilitators, and supporters. He also expressed hope that the programme would successfully achieve its aim of instilling the love of the Quran in the hearts and minds of the people and promoting the recitation of the holy book within Tajweed rules.
The Vice President also spoke about the importance accorded by the administration to promoting religious awareness. He added that the administration held Quran recitation competitions during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Vice President also noted that the administration would hold Ihya forums nationwide to renew and revive the spirit of Ramadan. He went on to say that the administration envisions a caring society that promotes Islamic love.
The "Ran Thaaju" Quran Recitation Competition auditions were held in six regions and featured 111 participants. The grand prize of the competition is MVR 300,000.
