President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed visited the Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) Berlin 2023 at Messe Berlin, Germany, on Wednesday. It is the first time in three years that the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) is physically attending the fair, and the first time for the Maldives after winning the title of "World’s Leading Destination" at the World Travel Awards for three consecutive years.
During the visit, the President and the First Lady toured the Maldives’ stand at the fair, featuring the unique qualities of Maldivian hospitality and the variety of services and experiences it offers. MMPRC presented President Solih with a miniature model of the stand during his visit.
ITB Berlin is a B2B platform for tourism industry partners and businesses. The Maldives is attending the fair this year with 233 representatives from 91 companies, accompanied by officials of the Ministry of Tourism and MMPRC.
The President arrived in Germany on Tuesday after attending the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in Doha, Qatar.In Germany, the President is scheduled to meet H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, for bilateral talks between the two countries. A high-level delegation of the government is accompanying the President during the visit.
