Vice President Faisal Naseem stressed on Sunday that producing skilled individuals is a prerequisite for strengthening decentralised governance. He made the remarks while speaking at the ceremony to inaugurate the Maldives Institute of Local Governance of the Local Government Authority (LGA).
The Vice President emphasised that the administration's focus had been to empower local councils and stated that its governance system had been comprehensive. He also spoke about the administration's efforts to empower women and ensure their participation in governance.
The Maldives Institute of Local Governance, established under the LGA, is tasked with conducting necessary training programmes to produce competent individuals needed to cater for the growth of the decentralised administration system. The Vice President also launched the website of the institution at the ceremony.
