President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met on Sunday with the members of the Island Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Faresmaathodaa Island in the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The meeting was held today at the Secretariat of the Faresmaathodaa Island Council as part of the President’s ongoing visit to join Fishermen’s Day celebrations.
At the meeting, the council members expressed their gratitude for the developmental projects initiated on the island by this administration. They also shared with the President concerns and pertinent needs of the island’s community.
Topics discussed at the meeting included space constraints at the council secretariat, the need for banking services, the development of a road connecting the airport and the harbour, and waste management. The council members also highlighted the support of government offices and institutions to the needs of the island’s community.
Speaking at the meeting, the President expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received from the island. He also spoke about the importance of the fisheries sector for the region and the administration’s commitment to equitable development in consultation with the people.
The President also added that the administration would take steps to find amicable solutions to the concerns raised at the meeting.
