The Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture has held a Fisheries Expo on Faresmaathodaa Island in the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll as part of the 42nd Fisherman's Day celebrations and in line with the administration’s efforts to further develop and promote the fisheries sector. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih travelled on Sunday to Faresmaathodaa Island to join Fishermen's Day activities.

The President visited the stands at the expo in the afternoon and inquired about the products and services on display. He toured the expo and launched some new products introduced by the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Ltd. (MIFCO) and Horizon Fisheries.

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Horizon Fisheries, Ensis Group, Seagull Group, Pressure Tech Maldives, Big Fish Maldives, Ooreedoo Maldives, Nooraajje, and the Island Council each had a stand at the expo.

Afterwards, the President attended a fish-filleting competition held as part of Fishermen's Day celebrations, featuring 12 contenders: eight women and four men.

A number of activities are being held on Faresmaathodaa Island as part of Fishermen's Day celebrations. The official function to mark the occasion will be held later this evening.
