The High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to the Republic of the Maldives, H.E. Soo Kok Leng, presented his credentials to H.E. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Tuesday at a ceremony held at the President's Office.
At the meeting afterwards, the President congratulated the High Commissioner on his new appointment and reaffirmed the two countries' long-standing bilateral relations based on shared values and people-to-people contact. The President stated that Singapore is an important development partner for the Maldives.
The President and the High Commissioner also discussed various issues of common interest, including regional and international collaboration, trade and investment cooperation, tourism cooperation, and climate adaptation. The High Commissioner also commended President Solih and his administration on the successful management of Covid-19 in the Maldives.
Before concluding the call, the President and the High Commissioner expressed their commitment to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries. The Maldives and Singapore established diplomatic relations on February 20, 1975.
