President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met on Sunday with the Island Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) members of Dharanboodhoo Island in the Faafu Atoll. The meeting was held at the President’s Office this afternoon.

At the meeting, the council members described the harbour developed on the island by this administration as one of the most convenient and spacious harbours in the whole atoll and stated that it was a testament to the administration’s policy of ensuring equitable development across the country.

Discussions at the meeting centred on the island’s developmental plans and the pertinent needs of its community. The project to develop the island’s sewerage system is currently underway. But the council members noted the need for a community centre and approval for the island’s land-use plan.

The council members also shared with the President concerns about budget constraints, the shortage of space at the school, and the need to expand the healthcare centre. Members of the WDC shared their concerns related to space and financial constraints.

Speaking at the meeting, the President shared the latest details of the developmental plans for the island. He also assured the council members of the administration’s commitment to finding amicable solutions to the concerns raised at the meeting.
