President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Saturday attended the final match and closing ceremony of the Club Maldives Cup 2022. The local NGO Club Maldives organised the tournament at the Rehendhi Futsal Turf in Hulhumalé.
At the ceremony, the President gave away the "King of Futsal" award and presented the championship trophy and medals to the winning team. The team from FENAKA Corporation Limited was the champion, beating Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) 2-1 in the finals.
The tournament this year featured 31 teams. Five teams participated in the "Eighteen Thirty Futsal Fiesta 2022," held to increase women’s participation in sports.
Club Maldives, which organises the biggest futsal event in the Maldives, has been actively working with individuals and institutions to create awareness of social issues. This year, the NGO raises awareness for the Blind and Visually Impaired Society of the Maldives (BVISM).
