President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Tuesday morning, officiated the Maldives International Challenge 2022—a badminton tournament being held at the Malé Sports Complex.
The Badminton Association of Maldives organised the tournament with endorsements from Badminton Asia and the Badminton World Federation. Badminton players from 25 countries will be participating in this tournament. It also features top-ranking players around the world.
Promoting the Maldives as a destination for international sporting events was a Presidential pledge. The main goal of this pledge is to allow Maldivian athletes to compete in international tournaments, while promoting the Maldives as a sports tourism destination. This is the seventh international competition Maldives is hosting this year.
