First Lady Fazna Ahmed on Thursday attended the official ceremony held to mark the International Day for Older Persons. The ceremony was held at the Hafiz Ahmed School, and was carried out in Fuvahmulah City’s native dialect.
At the ceremony, a series of information sessions were held after serving breakfast to the attendees. The special invitees, guests, and senior citizens who attended the ceremony were given information on nutritional requirements for senior citizens, mental health, fraud prevention, and financial well-being for the elderly.
The Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, H.E. Takeuchi Midori, also attended the event. The theme of this year’s International Day for Older Persons is "Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World".
The First Lady will attend the final match and awards ceremony of the Ground Golf Tournament held to commemorate the International Day of Older Persons.
The First Lady is scheduled to conclude her visit and return to Malé on Saturday.
