President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday stated that the administration has kept its pledge of providing equal opportunities for all islands, despite their size or population, and reiterated that the administration would continue to serve all citizens equally without bias. He made the remark at the ceremony held to inaugurate the installation of the water supply service in Naivaadhoo Island of Haa Dhaalu atoll.
The President recalled that the island had been requesting for a clean water supply service for years, and that the new service would alleviate many of their problems. He emphasised that access to clean water and sanitation are essential needs that go beyond being listed as a presidential pledge in a manifesto.
FENAKA Corporation Limited commenced the water supply service on the island on 7 August, 2022. The project included laying a 4.5 kilometre extended water network that caters to 174 households.
Providing safe drinking water and sanitation to all citizens was one of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's most prominent presidential pledges.
