President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed on Sunday attended the opening ceremony of the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Women's Championship 2022.
The SABA Women's Basketball Tournament 2022 will be held from 25 – 30 September, 2022 at the Maldives Centre for Social Education in Malé. Four teams from the South Asian region will be taking part in the competition. This is the first international women's basketball tournament being held in the Maldives.
In the first match of the tournament this evening, the Maldives national women's basketball team faced the Nepalese team.
Vice President Faisal Naseem also attended the opening ceremony along with the President and the First Lady. Cabinet Ministers, sports officials and supporters of the Maldives national basketball team were also present to support the Maldivian team.
