First Lady Fazna Ahmed on Saturday inaugurated the Maldives branch of the Association of Business Women in Commerce and Industry (ABWCI). The platform, dedicated to women’s economic empowerment in business, was inaugurated at a ceremony held at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE).
Membership of the virtual global chamber of commerce spans some of the most prominent women entrepreneurs, organisations, educational institutions, and companies investing in women. It aims to understand the needs of the future in the context of women's entrepreneurship, be responsive to the challenges women entrepreneurs face, and assist them in the global economy.
After the inauguration, the First Lady also visited a handicraft exhibition on the MCSE grounds.
