To reduce the effect of current global economic downturn on the Maldives, the government has decided on a set of austerity measures.
The measures that have been adopted were announced in a Directive issued by the President’s Office today. The measures include the reduction of overseas travel by various government officials except those deemed absolutely essential and approved by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.
