President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday met with the island council members of Dhonfanu Island in the South Maalhosmadulu Atoll. At the meeting held at the President’s Office, President Solih and the council members discussed the administration’s developmental plans for the island and the affairs of its residents.
The council member shared with the President challenges posed by the utilisation of the harbour and waste management centre, in addition to the need for additional housing plots. Other concerns raised at the meeting include space constraints at the health centre, school and the secretariat of the island council, in addition to the need to improve education and healthcare services. The council members also asked the President to designate Hanifaru Island as a picnic island and shared the need of the youth for a football stadium.
Speaking with the council members, President Solih briefed them on the latest on the ongoing developmental projects and plans for the island. He went on to assure them that the administration would work towards addressing their concerns.
