President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Tuesday inaugurated the new Child Development Centre in Hulhumalé Hospital. He was accompanied by First Lady Fazna Ahmed and Vice President Faisal Naseem, and they toured the facility afterwards.
The new centre offers a variety of programmes for children under the age of 18 focused on their cognitive, social, emotional, speech and language development. It commenced some programmes before the official inauguration for 67 children, providing a stimulating and educational environment to support the natural development of children.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President highlighted the challenges faced earlier in seeking child development services and treatment, noting that the new facility would address the concerns of many parents. He also shared plans to further expand child development services to the north and south of the country and spoke about the administration’s efforts in human resources development in the field and the healthcare sector.
At the ceremony, the First Lady donated special equipment required by the facility.
