President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Saturday morning met with the senior management and staff of the Lhaviyani Atoll Education Centre and held extensive discussions on their concerns, challenges, and developmental needs. President Solih is on Hinnavaru Island as part of a six-island visit to the Lhaviyani Atoll.
At the meeting, the faculty shared with the President their shortcomings due to space constraints, including the need to upgrade the complex and develop additional infrastructure. They also highlighted their human resources needs. Speaking with the faculty, President Solih assured them that the administration would consider their concerns and seek ways to find amicable solutions. He also toured the institution.
Afterwards, President Solih visited the health centre on the island. There, he met with the management and staff and inquired about healthcare services. He also visited the extension site of the harbour and inspected the progress of the project. Commissioned to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), it would see the development of a deep-water quay wall to facilitate larger vessels—the new harbour would be 162 meters in length. The project also includes developing a quay wall in the old harbour and basin deepening.
President Solih would also visit Felivaru, Naifaru, Olhuvelifushi, and Kurendhoo during his visit to the Lhaviyani Atoll. He is accompanied by ministers and government officials.
