President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday afternoon met with the island council members of Kunburudhoo Island in the Alif Dhaal Atoll. The meeting was held in the President's Office.

At the meeting, the council members shared with the President the most pertinent needs and concerns of the residents, especially the challenges faced due to the scarcity of land. They presented the President with an assessment report on the current situation on the island, and highlighted challenges caused by the scarcity of land for housing, economic activities, and municipal services.

The council members also spoke with the President about expanding the island’s harbour and requirements to facilitate the switch to single-session schooling. Other topics discussed at the meeting included upgrading healthcare services and coastal protection.

Speaking with the council members, President Solih reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to listening to the voices of the people and remedying their concerns. He said the administration would continue to speak with the residents of every island about the development and progress of their respective islands. He further assured the council members that the government would seek ways to address their concerns.
