The Chief Guide, First Lady Fazna Ahmed, on Monday afternoon, visited the little maids’ advocacy event of the 9th National Sixers’ Camp 2021, held at Ghaazee School. The three-day camp is being held from December 26–28, 2021, under the theme "Girl Powered Nutrition."
Addressing the event, the First Lady spoke extensively about the theme and the significance of nutrition and making healthy life choices. She stressed that a majority of health issues in women and adolescent girls are caused by a shortage of nutrition, and noted that a variety of healthy produce could be sourced locally.
The First Lady also expressed optimism that the Girl Powered Nutrition (GPN) badge and advocacy campaign would increase girls’ knowledge of nutrition and help them become more health-conscious. GPN is a global programme run by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). It promotes girl-led change through education on the importance of a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Participants also completed the "sixers challenge," an activity designed to develop abilities and instil the attributes of teamwork. Over 300 sixers from 42 schools in 13 atolls across the country are participating in the year-end camp organised by the Maldives Girl Guide Association (MGGA).
