President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday afternoon signed a book of condolences opened in memory of the late Umar Zahir, a state dignitary and honouree of the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin. The book was placed at the National Art Gallery.
In his message, President Solih described the passing of the late Umar Zahir as a loss to the nation, highlighting his remarkable service record spanning over 49 years. Noting the significant contributions of the late Umar Zahir to the development and progress of the nation, the President wrote that the late Umar Zahir remained sincere and devoted in his service to the nation.
In his message, the President penned down that the late Umar Zahir oversaw the successful completion of numerous government projects at a time of limited resources. He concluded his message by praying to Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant the late Umar Zahir’s soul eternal peace in Jannah.
The late Umar Zahir, 85, passed away on December 20, 2021, in Dharumavantha Hospital.
