President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday afternoon met with the council members of the Goidhoo Island Council of the Shaviyani Atoll. The meeting was held at the President’s Office, where the council members expressed their appreciation, and that of the residents, for the development of essential services and infrastructure projects carried out on the island as per the administration’s pledge.

At the meeting, President Solih and the council members discussed developmental plans for the island and the most pressing needs of its residents. Some of the topics discussed at the meeting included space constraints at the school and the harbour, delays in the project to develop a new health centre and difficulties posed by the lack of an ambulance. The council members also made a request for the development of a new mosque, and highlighting that a large percentage of the island’s youth work in the tourist sector, they shared their wish to see the development of a tourism establishment near the island.

Speaking with the council members, President Solih briefed them with the latest on the developmental plans for the island. He assured the council members that he would consult with the relevant authorities to find amicable solutions to the issues that were discussed at the meeting.
