Vice President Faisal Naseem, on Thursday afternoon, met with members of the Nolhivaranfaru Island Council of the South Thiladhunmathi Atoll. Discussions at the meeting focused on the developmental plans and projects for the island.
During the meeting, council members shared with the Vice President their concerns on the most pertinent issues and discussed the developmental needs of the island. They spoke about solving the issue of beach erosion, strengthening healthcare services, ensuring the continuity of ambulance services, and improving banking services, in addition to the school’s infrastructure needs and road development. They also shared their concerns about the island's harbour and spoke about their socio-economic needs.
At the meeting, the Vice President shared the latest updates on the island's ongoing and planned projects. He noted that funds had been earmarked in next year’s budget for the island’s road project. He also assured the council members that the government would work to find amicable solutions to the concerns they raised at the meeting.
