Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with the Council Members and senior institutional representatives of Vaikaradhoo Island, during which the Councillors expressed gratitude to the government, citing that 16 developmental projects had been initiated in the island.
During the meeting held at Vaikaradhoo School this afternoon, council members briefed the Vice President on the developmental needs of the island. They raised concerns about the difficulty of leasing land from the island, additional requirements for the powerhouse, allocation of a swimming area for residents, difficulties in providing lots of land for residential use and the need to expedite the construction of the 12 classroom project to enable Vaikaradhoo school to adopt single session schooling.
The school management stressed the need for a multipurpose hall to cater for extracurricular activities and senior representatives from Vaikaradhoo health centre highlighted the need for additional human resources, including a paediatrician for the health centre.
Speaking at the meeting, the Vice President highlighted the importance of strengthening the education system and the need for every child to be moulded into a valuable member of society. Noting that the administration is continuously working towards the benefit of the people, the Vice President stated that the upgrade of Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH) providing tertiary level would facilitate the people from the region to access tertiary healthcare services, eliminating the need to travel to Male' City to seek medical services.
Prior to the meeting, the Vice President inaugurated Vaikaradhoo outdoor gym and then visited and inspected the progress of the 12 classroom construction project at Vaikaradhoo School. He also visited Vaikaradhoo Health Centre inquiring about their services and inspected the progress of the construction of the extension building.
