Vice President Faisal Naseem has said that strengthening the healthcare system in the country is one of the government's top priorities. The Vice President made this statement while speaking at the ceremony held to initiate the development project to digitise the laboratory at the Fuvahmulah Hospital and expand the premises' facilities for modern healthcare capabilities. Vice President Faisal Naseem attended this ceremony and inaugurated the new development project as part of his ongoing trip to Fuvahmulah and Addu cities.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President highlighted various ongoing efforts by the government to secure and improve decentralised healthcare services across the nation, noting that providing quality healthcare in all atolls and islands also remains a major priority of his administration. He also stated that resources provided for the health sector, especially in the tertiary hospitals, have been significantly increased throughout the Maldives.
Continuing, Vice President Faisal Naseem noted that the new extension building would address the issues of laboratory space shortage at Fuvahmulah Hospital. He also mentioned that other services, such as specialist OPD and speech therapy services for children with disabilities, would also be included in the new premises.
