Vice President Faisal Naseem this morning met with the heads of State-Owned Enterprises, discussing ways to improve opportunities provided to children under state care. At the meeting held at the President's Office, he underscored the obligation and role of the state in providing care for the respective children.
On Sunday, Vice President Faisal Naseem met with senior government officials, including members of the Cabinet to discuss solutions to the issues faced by the staff at Fiyavathi – the children's home in Hulhumalé – and expediting immediate renovation work at the facility. On Saturday, he visited the facility and met the staff and children and listened to their concerns.
Protecting children's rights is a top priority of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. His administration is behind the ratification of crucial legislation, namely the Child Rights Protection Act and the Juvenile Justice Act. Speaking on the precedence accorded by the administration to the matter, the Vice President said it stands diligent with its commitment to ensuring every child grows up to become a responsible member of society.
