First Lady Fazna Ahmed, has met with members of the Hanimaadhoo Women’s Development Committee (WDC) and held discussions regarding the concerns and challenges in the operation of the committee and future objectives. The meeting was held this noon at the Barefoot Eco Hotel in Hanimaadhoo Island. The First Lady was accompanied at the meeting by Minister of Education Dr Aishath Ali, among other officials.
During the meeting, the WDC discussed key issues of interest and shared their concerns with the First Lady especially regarding the need for a platform to market food products produced by women. Other topics of discussion include fitness and wellbeing and opportunities for women in the area of sports.
First Lady Fazna shared her insight on addressing the issues and concerns shared by the Hanimaadhoo WDC. She emphasised the need of incorporating community ideas into the island's development. She also noted the significance of strategic planning during the development phase.
The first couple’s current visit to Hanimaadhoo Island is the final leg of a three-island trip to the north of the country. The President and the First Lady previously visited Kulhudhuffushi City and Kumundhoo Island of South Thiladhunmathi Atoll. Cabinet Ministers, along with senior government officials, are accompanying the President and the First Lady on this trip.They are scheduled to conclude the trip and return to Male’ City later this afternoon.
