First Lady Fazna Ahmed, on Saturday, has met with the members of Kulhudhuffushi City's Women’s Development Committee (WDC) and held discussions regarding the concerns and challenges in the operation of the committee as well as their plans for the future. The meeting was held this morning at the Secretariat of the Kulhudhuffushi City Council.

The WDC members shared several ideas and concerns with the First Lady during the meeting. They highlighted the need to create a platform to sell food products produced by women, improving the opportunities for women in sports and shared concerns about the challenges women face in obtaining higher education.

First Lady Fazna shared her insight on addressing the difficulties and concerns voiced by the Kulhudhuffushi WDC. She entrusted the WDC members to envision the collective prosperity of all women in the city, to make fair, unbiased use of the powers granted them under the Decentralisation Act. She encouraged them to move on with a strategic plan and collaborate with other institutions to attain their goals. Furthermore, the First Lady shared her ideas on broadening the role of women in city development.

The first couple’s current visit to Kulhudhuffudhi City is the first leg of a 03-island trip to the north of the country. From Kulhudhuffushi City, the President and First Lady will visit Kumundhoo Island and then Hanimaadhoo Island of Haa Dhaalu Atoll. Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials are accompanying the President and First Lady on this trip.
