President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Dr Abdul Hannan Waheed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) and appointed members to the Advisory Board of the institution. The President made these appointments as per the Maldives Higher Education Act (Law no.: 7/2021).
Dr Abdul Hannan attained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia. He previously served as CEO of Maldives Qualification Authority and the Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Authority. He also served at several other positions in the education sector. The CEO position is equivalent in rank to Minister of State.
The members appointed to the Advisory Board of MQA are:
1- Dr Abdul Hannan Waheed, CEO
2- Khadeeja Adam, Minister of State for Higher Education (Member representing the Ministry of Higher Education, selected by the Minister)
3- Dr Ahmed Ali Manik, (One of two experts from the Higher Education and Training Sector)
4- Dr Aishath Reesha (One of two experts from the Higher Education and Training Sector)
5- Dr Mohamed Shareef, Vice-Chancellor of MNU (Member selected among Vice-Chancellors of Universities in the Maldives)
6- Adam Haleem, Director of Programs of Maldives Institute of Technology (Member selected from the Technical and Vocational Sector)
7- Moosa Mohamed Manik, Director of Villa College (member selected among private Higher Education Institutions and Colleges)
