Vice President Faisal Naseem has received his second dose of Covishield Covid-19 vaccine this morning at Senahiya Hospital.
In his tweet announcing his second dose, the Vice President urged everyone to get vaccinated in order to protect themselves and their loved ones.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih launched the “Covid-19 Dhifaau” campaign on February 1, intending to inoculate the entire population against Covid-19. Administering the second dose was initiated on April 3.
There are 09 vaccination centres and 02 mobile teams working under the inoculation drive in the Greater Male’ Region, and 237 vaccination centres active in the atolls. Vaccines are provided free of charge for locals and expatriates. Under the inoculation drive, over 268,459 persons had received the first dose of the vaccine and over 15,294 persons had received the second dose as of 10th of April 2021.
In addition to the Covishield vaccine, the Maldives has also begun the use of Sinopharm vaccine and the Pfizer vaccine for all eligible individuals.
