Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with the members of the North Huvadhu Atoll Council and the Villingili Island Council this morning. The meeting was held at the North Huvadhu Atoll Council Secretariat, as part of the Vice President’s ongoing two-day trip to Gaafu Alifu Atoll. In addition to the Councillors, members of the Villingili Women’s Development Committee also joined the meeting.
Discussions at the meeting spotlighted several pivotal issues faced by the constituents of the Atoll in obtaining basic services such as transportation, sanitation, housing, and healthcare. Additionally, the participants conversed in detail regarding women’s empowerment and how best to provide equal opportunities to all youth for education and skill training. They also highlighted the rehabilitation of victims of narcotics abuse.
Vice President Faisal Naseem spoke during the meeting, affirming the Government’s obligation to support the Councillors to find sustainable solutions to the collective problems. He underscored that cultivating and upgrading the education and healthcare sectors, in particular, is focal for the Government, and that several key projects are already being undertaken towards that goal. He maintained that the Administration’s policy of actively listening to the concerns of the public, and determination to resolve all concerns, allows the Government and its people to work hand-in-hand towards national prosperity.
The Vice President was joined at the meeting today by the Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services, Aishath Mohamed Didi, Minister of Home Affairs, Imran Abdulla, and Special Advisor on Social Policy at the President’s Office, Dr. Mustafa Lutfi.
