Maldivian athlete Nasrullah Ahmed has presented his 60th marathon medal and jersey to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at a special ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning.
Nasrullah Ahmed, a Staff Sergeant at the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), is a seasoned athlete, holding the local record for the most marathons completed. His 60th marathon was the New York Liberty Run held in 2020. He has completed five more marathons since, bringing his total to 65 marathons to date.
President Solih acknowledged Nasrullah’s achievements and congratulated him for his outstanding performance. The President also encouraged Nasrullah to persevere towards his goal of attaining the record number of marathons completed in the Asia Region.
On average, Nasrullah takes four hours to complete a marathon. One of Nasrullah’s most notable achievements is completing his run at the 5th Hindustan Marathon held in New Delhi, India, within three hours, twenty-nine minutes and thirty-eight seconds. Nasrullah is also active as a coach, encouraging and training local athletes in the field of long distance running.
The Minister of Defense Uza Mariya Ahmed Didi and the Chief of Staff at the President’s Office Uz Ali Zahir also attended the ceremony.
